(The Post News) – In Berlin, One Direction fans were surprised to find out pop superstar Harry Styles adopted a new look and name to partake in a 3-hour marathon on Sunday, 21 September.
The British-born Watermelon Sugar singer had fans doing double takes as “Sted Sarandos from Great Britain” (his pseudonym) ran the annual 26.2-mile Berlin Marathon. Sporting a thick moustache, oversized glasses, and a rolled-up headband, Styles blended into the crowd while pulling off the undercover stunt for the most part.
But as the race went on, participants and sideline fans began to recognise the three-time Grammy winner, who has 46.7 million Instagram followers. Two-time Paralympic gold medal winner Richard Whitehead shared a photo with the mega star, jokingly captioned “2.58 in Berlin with my mate!! Anyone know him!! 😂,”.
Videos of Styles Taken from Side-lines Go Viral
Videos filmed by fans on the sidelines have since gone viral, with many praising Styles for speed and smashing his personal best. Back in March, the 31-year-old was spotted at the Tokyo Marathon, finishing in 3 hours and 24 minutes. His new record time of 2 hours and 59 minutes marks nearly a half-hour improvement.
With two marathons already under his belt, fans have been warned to keep their eyes peeled for the former One Direction star, who may just pop up at your next city race.
