(The Post News)- Mbombela Stadium will host the Nedbank Cup final match today, June 1, between two major teams, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates. The match is scheduled to kick off at 15:00.
The stadium is expected to be full to its maximum capacity due to major teams that are playing this evening which are Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates, kick off at 15:00 pm.
Mamelodi Sundowns who have just won the Dstv Premiership League title will be playing with one of the Soweto Giants football clubs, the Buccaneers (Orlando Pirates), who are also the defending champions of the Nedbank Cup 2023.
The Brazilians (Sundowns) fans have on social media showed that the Buccaneers should pay for beating them in last year’s Nedbank Cup final encounter, 0 (3-2) 0 on penalties.
The two clubs have a remarkable history of playing at the Confederation of African Football Champions League (CAF). Both have once claimed victory at the African Championship, claiming a star.
The Buccaneers’ fanbase is confident of victory. However, former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye predicted in Diski Times that while both teams will score, Mamelodi Sundowns will ultimately win.
Khanye elaborated that Sundowns’ regular participation in CAF competitions gives them exceptional experience.
He noted that the Pirates typically play a defensive game against Sundowns, suggesting that neutralizing key players Relebohile Mofokeng and Patrick Maswanganyi will be crucial to overcoming the Pirates.
“I wish the referee doesn’t decide tomorrow’s game. Referee, if you received a brown envelope under a desk, please ignore it. I am just asking the referee not to decide tomorrow’s game. I’m worried but I’m asking the referee to be neutral and not give out red cards recklessly,” concluded Junior on Diski TV, YouTube channel.
