(The Post News) – The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party has suspended its deputy president and paliamentary leader Dr John Hlophe, from all his leadership roles with immediate effect.
MK relseased a statement signed by the party’s head of presidency Magasela Mzobe on Wednesday night, 5 November 2025 reporting the suspension of Hlophe after he allegedly made unauthorised leadership changes in Parliament including the removal of parliamentary chief whip Colleen Makhubele.

This disicion follows the arrival of the Mk President, Jacob Zuma from a successful trip to Burkina Faso. “The President has taken a decision to issue a precautionary suspension to the Party’s Deputy President and the Leader of the MKP Parliament Caucus Dr. John Hlophe from both his leadership roles with immediate effect, pending a full investigation on his conduct,” reads the statement.
Mzobe added that this decision is meant to affirm and send a strong message and the principle of collective leadership across all structures within the uMkhonto weSizwe Party. “Consequently, the decision taken by Dr. Hlophe to remove Cde Collen Makhubele and appoint Cde Des Van Rooyen is therefore nullified,” the statement said.
According to the stament, the leadership of the MK party remains firmly united and committed to upholding the principles of disciple, accountability and collective decision making as enshrined in the party consitution.
Reports indicate that MK party is facing internal disputes over leadership and direction.
