Zelensky meets European leaders in London to discuss US peace plan
(The Post News)- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with European leaders in London to discuss the latest US-authored peace proposal aimed at ending Russia’s war in Ukraine. The meeting involved talks with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
Ukraine’s Right To Determine Its Own Future
European leaders emphasized Ukraine’s right to determine its own future and stressed the importance of a unified European stance on the conflict. “The fate of this country is the fate of Europe,” Merz said, reiterating Germany’s support for the US-led peace initiative.
Zelensky expressed Ukraine’s commitment to achieving peace, saying, “None of us wants an endless war. Ukraine is ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as possible to bring lasting peace closer”.

Western Sanctions On Russia
Macron highlighted the importance of Western sanctions on Russia’s economy, stating, “I think we have many cards… The fact that Ukraine is resisting this war, that the Russian economy is starting to suffer — especially after our recent sanctions and those from the US”.
Starmer emphasized the need for a “just and lasting” end to Russia’s war on Ukraine, adding that any future European peacekeeping force would be “vital” for Kyiv’s security.
The meeting comes amid ongoing Russian attacks on Ukraine, with reports of intensified strikes on energy infrastructure and civilian areas. European leaders are working to balance their support for Ukraine with the need for a negotiated settlement.
