Shebe Maburna’s bail appeal has been dismissed by the Polokwane High Court in Limpopo. The popular Lekompo musician, whose real name is Lehlohonolo Chauke, had been denied bail by the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court last month due to concerns he might commit further offences.

Maburna is facing multiple charges, including three counts of attempted murder, stemming from an incident in October 2025 where he allegedly shot and injured a fan in Ladanna, Polokwane. The victim remains hospitalized, and the court has cited the seriousness of the charges and Maburna’s history of committing offences while on bail as reasons for denying bail.
Polokwane High Court Dismissed the Appeal
The High Court’s dismissal of Maburna’s appeal means he will remain in custody until his next court appearance on February 18, 2026. Judge AJ Burnett delivered the verdict, stating, “I hereby make the following order: the appeal is dismissed”.
Maburna’s music career has been put on hold, with over 40 scheduled performances cancelled due to his detention. Fans and supporters are anxiously awaiting the outcome of his case, hoping for his release to resume performances.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has welcomed the court’s decision, citing concerns about Maburna’s propensity for violence and the risk of him committing further offences if released on bail.
Maburna’s legal team is expected to prepare a robust defense, while the prosecution will push for a harsh sentence if convicted.
