Multichoice is weighing whether to end the partnership with immediate effect or to see out the remaining year of the five-year deal.
(The Post News)- The Premier Soccer League might be searching for a new sponsor, following reports that Dstv is pulling the plug as their sponsor.
According to SABC Sport, Multichoice is weighing whether to end the partnership with immediate effect or to see out the remaining year of the five-year deal that was agreed upon in 2020.
The company was in agreement to sponsor the league for five years, from 2020 to 2025. DSTV has been the league’s sponsor since then, replacing ABSA.
There are no reasons for the fallout of the company, even though it’s left with one year.
PSL clubs are gearing up for the upcoming season by introducing and replacing technical teams and strengthening their squads with new players. However, it’s unfortunate that their parent company, Multichoice, has decided to terminate its sponsorship with immediate effect.
Clubs were advised to be on hold with finalising their 2024–25 season. As there was work done on the new PSL logo, reports the publication.
The publication further revealed that Betway could be the main sponsor. Although it has not yet been confirmed, they remain the strongest candidate.
The board of directors for the PSL is seeking a new sponsorship.
Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates, and Kaizer Chiefs are the only clubs training abroad in the league. However, the TS Galaxy is expected to play against a German Bundesliga side, Augsburg.
Fans and football enthusiasts eagerly anticipate the return of football leagues, looking forward to the kickoff of the English Premier League next month.
