Pastor Mboro’s church set alight after video shows him and armed men storming school and taking pupils.
(The Post News)- A shocking incident at Matshidiso Primary School in Katlehong has sparked outrage, with pupils setting fire to Pastor Paseka Mboro’s church after videos emerged showing him and armed men threatening teachers and forcibly removing two learners. The retaliation followed footage of Mboro wielding a panga while his accomplices, one armed with an assault rifle, took the children.
Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane strongly condemned the incident, citing its severe impact on the school community. The Department of Education revealed a custody dispute between the paternal and maternal families, stemming from the children’s mother’s death in April, led to the violent confrontation.
On the day of the incident, the children’s father, accompanied by armed men, forcibly took the children after a confrontation with school staff. Police and the Child Protection Unit intervened, with measures taken to protect pupils and staff. Chiloane emphasized that such acts of violence and intimidation undermine the educational system and can traumatize the school community.
The community’s reaction, culminating in the burning of Mboro’s church, highlights the severity of the disruption and trauma caused. Mboro and other suspects have been arrested and are scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, August 7, following the viral video showing pupils being forcibly taken from the school.
