Following the controversy surrounding Chidimma Adetshina’s citizenship, the Miss South Africa organization issued a statement confirming her withdrawal from the competition. The organization also wished her well for her future pursuit
(The Post News)- After keeping quiet while the country reacted to former Miss South Africa finalist Chidimma Adetshina’s decision to exit from the competition on Thursday, Miss SA organizers issued a statement sending their best wishes to the aspiring beauty queen.
Initially, Miss SA organizers reposted Adetshina’s statement after withdrawing from the competition, claiming safety concerns for herself and her family. They ten followed by posting their own statement on their Instagram page, where they acknowledged that Adetshina’s withdrawal from the competition was due to recent concerns concerning her citizenship and stated that they wish her all the best and success in all her future endeavors.
The organization stated that it embraces the country’s unique and inclusive culture, upholds the spirit of Ubuntu-Botho, and is committed to encouraging self-belief, self-confidence, and the realization of all girls’ and women’s dreams in Africa and around the world. In addition, the organization thanked all its sponsors, partners, fans, and stakeholders for their continuing support and wished the Miss SA 2024 finalists the best.
Adetshina is reported to be of Nigerian and Mozambican descent but was born in South Africa to parents who are both South African residents. However, an ongoing investigation by the Department of Home Affairs has shown that Adetshina’s mother may have obtained South African citizenship through fraudulent means, making it difficult for an innocent South African mother, who was the victim of this purported crime, to register her child.
Home Affairs is still investigating how this fraudulent conduct occurred, as well as who may have engaged in the illicit crime. Meanwhile, on Saturday, August 10, media personality Bonang Matheba will host a spectacular Miss SA finale at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria to celebrate and crown this year’s titleholder.
