On Wednesday, the Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs tendered his resignation.
(The Post News)– A new wave of Russian missiles overnight killed at least seven people, including a child, and Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba tendered his resignation on Wednesday, ahead of an anticipated significant cabinet overhaul.
As Russia’s invasion drags on, Kuleba is the most well-known member of President Volodymyr Zelensky’s government to step down. Kuleba’s resignation coincides with the president’s anticipated travel to the US this month.
Kuleba, the head of Ukraine’s diplomatic service, has been a mainstay of Zelensky’s government and one of the most outspoken, particularly when interacting with foreign dignitaries. Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk stated on Telegram that the resignation of the foreign minister will be discussed by the Ukrainian parliament at a future plenary session.
The majority leader of the Ukrainian parliament, Davyd Arakhamia, stated on Tuesday that significant changes to the cabinet are anticipated this week.
“A significant government reset is anticipated this week, as promised. Arakhamia stated on Telegram that the Cabinet of Ministers will have more than 50% of its staff replaced and that new members would be recruited soon.
Oleksandr Kamyshin, the Minister for Strategic Industries and overseer of armaments manufacturing, was one of the resignations.
The ministries of justice, the environment, and reintegration have also resigned. Zelensky stated that the next fall will be “extremely important for Ukraine” and that “our state institutions must be set up so that Ukraine achieves all the results we need” in his night-time speech on Tuesday.
“To achieve this, we must fortify some government agencies… Additionally, he stated, “I am planning to give some aspects of our foreign and domestic policy a slightly different weight.”
The anticipated rearrangement transpired while Russian missiles persisted in striking Ukrainian cities.
The seven fatalities were verified by Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi, who also stated that the attack caused damage to residential buildings.
A 14-year-old girl was among the fatalities, according to the chief of the city’s regional military administration, Maksym Kozytskyi, who also stated that at least 25 others were hurt in the attack. According to him, four additional children have minor injuries and a 15-month-old youngster has “moderate” injuries.
According to Kozytskyi, the attack also caused damage to at least seven “architectural monuments of local importance,” including homes situated inside a UNESCO buffer zone and in a historically significant area of the city.
