(The Post News)- Midfielder Sibongiseni Mthethwa is still in the lineup for Kaizer Chiefs, according to coach Nasreddine Nabi, and he might even play against Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday. The hard-working midfielder from Stellenbosch FC was rumored to be leaving the team during the most recent transfer window, but he hasn’t played for the Tunisian coach yet.
After Chiefs defeated AmaZulu FC 3-1 in the Betway Premiership yesterday night at Moses Mabhida Stadium, Nabi reiterated his faith in his entire team, which included Mthethwa.
“I believe we have 32 players this season, and I appreciate each and every one of them. Why do you question me exclusively about Mthethwa if he’s part of my plan? Too many other players are here,” Nabi remarked.
He furthered by saying that they are a cohesive team, and Mthethwa possesses a valuable attribute. Perhaps he might be starting for Sundowns on Saturday. “But I don’t want to talk too much about one player, I want to talk about the whole group,” said Nabi.
Through his interpreter, Nabi also reiterated his admiration for players who can bear pressure and hold their own in pivotal moments, discussing the impact of Mfundo Vilakazi, Gastino Sirino, and Mduduzi Shabalala.
“He’s one of the greatest examples of great quality and he has a lot of positive impact on the whole team, when you consider players like Mduduzi Shabalala, Mfundo Vilakazi or Samkelo Zwane,” he stated.
In conclusion he said “When we observe how he tracks back to defend, for example, we can conclude that, at some point, his intense fury is a positive thing because he is one of the more serious players when it comes to attacking and defensive engagement.”
