(The Post News)– A man (22), from Lephalale, is now facing serious charges of murdering his two-year-old child for what seems to be a tragic incident. According to reports, the child suffered a terrible fate, which led the Limpopo police to start a murder investigation.
Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the police spokesperson, said that the event happened in Shongoane village, located in the Villa Nora policing area outside Lephalale on Sunday.
“The police arrived at about 06:00 after receiving a tip from the community. When they got there, they found the child’s disfigured body parts on a bed,” said Ledwaba. The alleged suspect was arrested and charged with murder because he had some of the victim’s body parts.
However, the exact reason behind this horrifying act is still unclear. Although the police haven’t ruled out the possibility that the murder might be connected to ritualistic practices, this has raised alarm among local residents.
The suspect was caught after the child’s body was discovered. Investigators are carrying out a thorough examination of the situation and are asking for any info related to the case.
The rise in child homicide cases in Limpopo is particularly alarming. This event does not appear to have been the last one in the province, which raises concerns of the safety of children in the area.
The alleged murder accused is looking forward to putting in a court appearance on murder charges in Phalala magistrate court in the near future.
Nevertheless, the investigation is still ongoing. Community leaders are calling for more awareness and preventive measures to tackle the troubling increase in violence against children in Limpopo. They emphasize the need to protect the province’s most vulnerable individuals.
