(The Post News)- The Dutch manager, Erick ten Hag, has been fired by Manchester United. For three seasons, the coach has been in charge of the team. The club’s top officials convened in London to examine the team’s future; following the discussion, the coach was dismissed.
Club directors have fired the former Ajax coach, who had saved his head in previous seasons due to the Red Devils’ terrible start to the 2024-25 campaign. After leading Ajax back to the top of the European scene with players like Frenkie de Jong, Matthis De Ligt, and Andre Onana, Ten Hag came with a solid reputation.
Even though he started his first season in Manchester well, he has had ups and downs at Old Trafford, and his position has always been a source of controversy. The club released a media statement announcing his dismisal and saying that Erik ten Hag has left his position as manager of Manchester United’s men’s first team. According to the club’s statement, after being hired in April 2022, Erik led the squad to two domestic titles, the FA Cup in 2024 and the Carabao Cup in 2023.
The club expressed gratitude to Erik for his contributions to the organization thus far and wished him success in his future pursuits. The Dutchman won an EFL Cup in 2022-2023 and stole an FA Cup from city rivals Manchester City, but he hasn’t been able to get Manchester United back to the top division. With just eight points from seven games, Manchester United are sagging in 14th place in the Premier League standings. They are also in a precarious position in Europe following two draws with Porto and Twente.
The team also stated that Van Nistelrooy will take over as temporary coach in place of the former Ajax coach, noting that Ruud van Nistelrooy will lead the squad as interim head coach, assisted by the current coaching staff, until a permanent head coach is hired.
