(The Post News)- Residents in KwaZulu-Natal have been advised to exercise caution by the KwaZulu-Natal Co-operative Governance Department as potential thunderstorms, heavy rains, and hail are expected.

A level 4 warning for severe thunderstorms, heavy rains, and hail in some areas in KZN by the South African Weather Services. According to Senzelwe Mzila, department spokesperson, disaster management teams are monitoring the situation. Mzila goes on to say that the MEC for Cogta has warned communities to take the necessary precautions to protect themselves and their families, and disaster management teams are still on high alert across the province, ensuring that they can respond quickly if the need arises.

Ayanda Nsele, a weather forecaster, says that residents can expect a continuation of the weekend rains and are advised to exercise caution due to potential thunderstorms, heavy rains, and hail.

Since yesterday, the province has been expecting a 60% chance of rain. The province still had an alert for severe thunderstorms in the afternoon over the western parts, which was a Yellow Level 4 alert that was expected to affect uThukela, Amajuba, Harry Gwala, Umgungundlovu, and the most northern parts of Umzinyathi. Nsele explains that they were expecting the rain to continue into today, therefore making flooding to be expected.
