(The Post News)- Congo’s loss to South Sudan secured Bafana Bafana a place in the current international break without a single kick. Following South Sudan’s 3-2 victory over Congo-Brazzaville, Bafana Bafana secured a ticket in Morocco 2025 and advances to back-to-back Afcon championships.
After Congo-Brazzaville’s 3-2 loss to South Sudan, Bafana Bafana has formally qualified for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. Congo can no longer overtake Bafana, who have two games left and are comfortably on eight points, as a result of this outcome.
Hugo Broos had already said that he would resign if qualifying wasn’t guaranteed, so the news validates his continued position as coach.
On November 15, Broos and his team will play Uganda. As Bafana Bafana prepares for Afcon 2025, winning the group would provide them a boost in confidence and solid positioning, signifying a breakthrough in South African football.
Following their conflict, South Sudan and Congo-Brazzaville are both destroyed. South Africa and Uganda, who play each other in their penultimate Group K match on Friday in Kampala, are already assured of finishing in the top two.
Each of the 12 qualifying groups’ top two teams advance to the finals in Morocco the following year. Bafana Bafana will aim to advance over their third-place result from the Ivory Coast’s last tournament. They will try to win both of their remaining games in order to take first place in the group.
