Selepe United won the top 4 of Capricorn FM prized ten thousand rand and a soccer kit.
(The Post News)- Along the R37 road at the Bogatladi Black Movers Ground in Atok, Limpopo, Capricorn FM hosted a Top Four event with support from Creative Mining and Engineering and sponsorship from Telkom.
In order to establish four clubs, the top four featured teams from Atok each had a squad of 23 players. Selepe United, Manotwane FC, R37 Stars, and Atok United were in attendance. In honor of Capricorn FM 17th birthday, Capricorn is holding this competition for the five districts in the Limpopo province. A soccer gear and ten thousand rand were up for grabs in the battle of the squads.
Capricorn FM Account Executive Phomelelo Ngwepe told The Post News that the company is commemorating its 17th birthday alongside the local communities. Encouraging children and others to get off streets as well as keeping themselves occupied and developing their skills.
“We want people to be aware of our talent in the Atok area. In order to recognize local talent, we also hope that more businesspeople would join the effort,” stated Thabo Selepe, Executive Manager of Creative Mining and Engineering.
After a 1-1 draw with Atok United vs R37 Stars. R37 Stars prevailed 5–4 on penalties. During the game’s ninety minutes, Selepe United defeated Manotwane FC 4-1.
After a scoreless 90 minutes, R37 Stars were defeated by Selepe United in the final, which was decided by penalties 5-4 too.
Players like center middle fielder Tsebiso Mathepe and a penalty saver goalie Karabo “Tlaila” Mojela were recognized for their outstanding play. Unfortunately, there were no scouts present at the competition to witness the exceptional potential.
Earlier this year, Baroka FC selected a forward named Mothipi “Sniper” from the Creative Tournament on the same field. Football is alive, Sniper said in a one-on-one interview, and he never imagined getting selected. However, he was constantly playing as if someone was watching because of the love and enthusiasm. Luckily, Creative Tournament had scouts, and he is currently at the Second Division of Baroka.
“The fact that our team won makes me very happy. We arrived here, and we prevailed. The guys fulfilled their promise to me. We hope that everyone who helped us will continue to do so.
We love football and this motivates us, so Capricorn FM, Telkom, and supporters should continue to support it,” Selepe United captain Tlaila said.
The victorious coach expressed gratitude to the initiative and urged the participants to consider other sports in addition to football. “I express my gratitude to everyone, particularly Telkom and Capricorn FM, for raising awareness through various channels.
May it involve more than just football the next time,” said Mathipa “Tips” Kopano, coach of Selepe United.
