(The Post News)- Springboks coach Rassie Erasmus has made significant changes ahead of the final match of their northern tour against Wales. Prop Ox Nché, who recently suffered a cut above his knee during the match against England, will not feature in the game. Although the injury is not serious, Erasmus opted to rest Nché to ensure full recovery, leaving Gerhard Steenekamp to take on the loosehead responsibilities.
Additionally, five players, Sbu Nkosi, Joseph Dweba, Hacjivah Dayimani, Ruan Vermaak, and Marco van Staden, have been released from the squad. This decision comes as part of the coaching staff’s rotation policy to manage player workloads and allow opportunities for others to step up.
The Springboks’ adjustments reflect a strategy to maintain momentum while also preparing for the future. Despite Wales’ poor form this season, Erasmus emphasized the importance of fielding a competitive side and respecting their opponents, especially in the set pieces where Wales has shown strength.
As the Springboks close out their season, all eyes will be on how the restructured team performs. The clash is set for this weekend in Cardiff, wrapping up a challenging but rewarding campaign for the world champions.
