(The Post News)- The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party held a mini rally in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni on Friday. The aim was to usher MK supporters to the party’s first anniversary on 16 December 2024.
Floyd Shivambu, Secretary-General of the MK Party vouched at the rally the party will unite more than two-thirds of South Africans towards transformation.
“Our focus is to persuade a majority of the people of South Africa, persuade a lot of progressive forces to associate with MKP, and we are successfully doing so and that is the agenda that we think we should consolidate on,” said Shivambu.
“Those who join uMkhonto weSizwe they realize here is the proper vehicle that’s assembling the best of the best, let us associate with it instead of existing in small unviable parties that have got none whatsoever to win electoral power in South Africa.”
The party’s leadership has changed many times in the past 12 months. Lately, the MK Party has recruited several high profile politicians from the EFF, including Floyd Shivambu, Dali Mpofu and Busisiwe Mkhwebane.
The party president Jacob Zuma has continuously shuffled the leadership with no explanation to it’s constituency or an elective conference.
As Jacob Zuma is set to deliver the keynote address at the party’s first anniversary at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban later this month, South Africans are eager to learn how transformation will be implemented by a short-stint leadership political party.
