Sergio Perez’s partnership with Red Bull on brink of ending.
(The Post News)- Sergio Perez’s time at Red Bull appears to be coming to an end after the 2024 season, as reports suggest the Mexican driver will leave the team following the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Despite being under contract for 2025, Perez’s struggles this season, highlighted by his dismal performance at the Qatar Grand Prix, have raised questions about his future. With a DNF after a clutch failure and sitting a massive 277 points behind teammate Max Verstappen, Perez’s form has hampered Red Bull’s chances in the constructors’ championship.
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner acknowledged Perez’s past contributions, particularly in securing Red Bull’s constructors’ titles in 2022 and 2023, but noted the pressure Perez is currently under. Horner confirmed that the decision on Perez’s future would ultimately be his to make, but reports indicate that Red Bull is already planning to part ways with the driver after Abu Dhabi.
While Red Bull is yet to provide an official update, the prevailing expectation is that Perez’s departure is inevitable. The team will now focus on managing his exit and securing a suitable replacement for the 2025 season. It seems Perez’s tenure at Red Bull is nearing its conclusion, regardless of his performance in the final race.
