(The Post News) – The Department of Minerals and Petroleum Resources confirmed in a statement released on Tuesday, 30 September 2025 that a litre of 93 octane petrol will increase by one cent, while 95 octane is set to increase by eight cents per litre.
From tomorrow, diesel will decrease by between eight and 10 cents a litre while illuminating paraffin will decrease by 15 cents a litre at retail level.
Department spokesperson Robert Maake confirmed the adjustments, explaining that global market shifts and currency movements influenced the changes. “Petrol 93 octane will increase by one cent per litre. 95 octane would increase by eight cents per litre, from Tuesday midnight. Diesel will decrease by eight and 10 cents a litre.
Eliminating paraffin, it will also at retail level will decrease by 11 cents a litre. The reasons are slight increase in the prices of brent crude oil during the period under review, the international prices of all petroleum product decreased on average during the period under review. The rand appreciated on average against the US dollar and cushioned the fuel prices by 14 to 15 cents per litre,” said Maake.
The department added that it would continue to monitor global oil price trends and currency exchange rates, urging consumers to remain cautious as prices remain volatile.
