(The Post News)- In a significant escalation of the political battle, President Joe Biden’s campaign has launched its harshest attack ad yet against former President Donald Trump.
The new ad, released on Monday, June 17, directly targets Trump’s criminal convictions and controversial past.
The ad highlights Trump’s 34 felony convictions in New York, along with previous verdicts finding him guilty of sexual assault and business fraud. In contrast, it portrays President Biden as a leader prioritising the well-being of the American people.
The Biden campaign is making substantial investments in advertising, planning to spend $50 million in June alone.
This includes targeted ads aimed at non-white voters, including Asian American voters concerned about healthcare and black voters looking for tangible achievements.
Meanwhile, the Trump campaign has not yet aired a general election ad on television, indicating challenges in keeping pace with Biden’s fundraising efforts.
Trump’s legal troubles have been well-documented, including his conviction last month for concealing payments to an adult film star and separate verdicts finding him guilty of sexual abuse and business fraud.
Michael Tyler, the Biden campaign’s communications director, slammed Trump on Monday, calling him a power-hungry individual who will stop at nothing to achieve his goals, even if it means harming others.
Tyler stated that Trump’s conviction and his encouragement of the January 6 Capitol riot are testaments to his vengeful nature and that his entire campaign is driven by a desire for revenge.
The Biden campaign has been ramping up its advertising efforts, spending nearly $67 million so far, with a significant increase in recent weeks, from $2.2 million in late April to $5.3 million in early June.
The Biden campaign’s new ad marks a significant shift in strategy, directly attacking Trump’s character and criminal record.
With the first debate approaching, this move is seen as a bold attempt to sway public opinion and bolster Biden’s support among key voter groups.
The Biden campaign’s recent announcement suggests that their advertising spending will continue to increase rapidly through the end of June.
According to Ad Impact, the campaign has so far spent $12.4 million as of June 16, which is significantly less than their goal of $50 million for the month, indicating that a significant surge in spending is expected in the coming weeks.
