Gisele Pelicot’s ex-husband found guilty and sentenced to 20 years in prison, alongside 50 other co-accused, for the mass rape of Gisele.
(The Post News)– Gisele Pelicot’s (72) ex-husband, Dominique Pelicot (72), was found guilty and sentenced to 20 years in prison for the mass rape of Gisele.
Dominique was on trial with 50 other males, ranging in age from 26 to 74, and they were sentenced alongside him after being found guilty of aggravated rape, sexual assault, and child abuse imagery. The court also found Dominique guilty of attempting aggravated rape against Jean-Pierre Marechal’s wife, one of the men accused alongside Dominique, and taking obscene pictures of Jean’s daughter and daughter-in-law.
Dominique entered a guilty plea to the allegations during the three-month trial, and he received a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, while prosecutors sought terms ranging from four to 18 years for his co-accused. However, the judges handed them shorter sentences than requested by the prosecutors, with sentences ranging from three to 15 years, with two sentences suspended.
Reports state that Dominique was detained in December 2020 after law enforcement acquired his gadgets during a probe into his videotaping of three women’s skirts. This led to police discovering over 20,000 images and videos on his computer disks, which exposed the terrible crimes he had kept for ten years from Gisele.
He admitted to drugging Gisele for about ten years and inviting other men to rape her, and many of the accused contested the claims, arguing that they believed it was a consensual sex game planned by the couple. The men further argued that it could not have been rape since the husband was present; however, Dominique refuted their arguments, stating that he did not deceive the men; they were fully aware of their actions. During his testimony, he referred to himself and his co-accused as “rapists.” According to the police, Dominique would occasionally record the assaults—police discovered dozens of videos and images, with the timeline beginning in 2011.
For many years, Gisele was intoxicated and sexually violated up to 100 times, with no knowledge of what was happening to her body. Addressing the media after the trial ended, Gisele expressed that the trial has been a “difficult ordeal,” and her children and grandchildren are currently her priority. She said that her grandchildren and daughters-in-law are what drove her to fight the injustices committed to her body.
Gisele went from being a victim of mass rape to being a feminist icon. During the address, she also stated that her thoughts are with the “unrecognized victims.” Additionally, she expressed gratitude to those who have supported her throughout the trial. She also welcomed the court’s ruling, noting that she respected the court and the verdict it rendered.
