(The Post News) – Bernardo Silva has officially announced that he will leave Manchester City at the end of the season, bringing an end to a remarkable nine-year spell filled with silverware and unforgettable moments.
The Portuguese midfielder, Silva, who also served as club captain, joined City from AS Monaco in 2017 for £43 million (R952 870 540,00). During his time at the club, Silva became a key figure under manager Pep Guardiola, alongside stars like Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland, who have all paid tribute to his legacy.

Silva is set to depart in June 2026, when his contract expires, meaning he will leave the club as a free agent at the age of 31. The announcement centers around Manchester City, where Silva has spent nearly a decade building a legacy as one of the club’s most consistent and intelligent performers.

In his farewell message, Silva thanked Pep Guardiola, his teammates, his family, and the fans, stating he will remain a “City fan for life.” Silva further thanked and gave a goodbye in advance, ‘it’s time to say goodbye to the city where not only we won so much as a football club, but also where I started my marriage and my family. From the bottom of my heart, Ines and Carlota, thank you!”
