(The Post News) – Ms. Huang Lihong, aged 31, and her husband Zhang Yong, 32 years old, were visiting Ijen, a Volcano park in the Eastern Java province. During their trip, they climbed to the edge of the crater to witness the sunrise. The tour guide had informed the couple about the potential hazards of the crater.
“It the first, Ms. Huang kept a safe distance of 2m to 3m away from the edge of the cliff as she posed for photos. Then she started moving closer to a tree with bare straggly branches to capture a more beautiful back-view,” said the tour guide.
But as she said walking backward, she accidentally stepped on her long clothes and fell off the cliff. It was not clear what she was exactly wearing, I couldn’t differentiate between a skirt or a dress, stated the guide man.
It has been reported that she was taking pictures of what is referred to as the ‘blue fire’. This phenomenon occurs at an Indonesian volcano located in the park, where sulfuric gases combust and emit a unique blue flame.

According to local authorities, the woman’s death was classified as an accident. She fell from a height of 75 meters and succumbed to the impact. This tragic incident took place over the weekend.
Ijen has a crater known as being lonely and most miners and tourists popularly visit the site. They mostly dig up the hardening yellow sulfur to sell for use in manufacturing.
Millions of people in Indonesia reside and work near volcanoes. This is primarily due to the rich agricultural land found in the country, which is host to approximately 130 active volcanoes. As reported by Breaking News RSA, Ms. Huguan’s unfortunate incident is not an isolated one. In early February this year, a 53-year-old Polish man lost his life while hiking up Ijen. Similarly, in September 2015, a 60-year-old Swiss man also passed away after collapsing and experiencing breathing difficulties while climbing Ije
