(The Post News)- The African National Congress (ANC) has warmly welcomed the appointment of justice Mandisa Maya as the next Chief Justice of South Africa. This historic appointment marks a significant milestone in the country’s journey towards gender equality and representation in the highest echelons of the judiciary.
Mandisa Maya’s extensive experience and stellar career make her an ideal candidate for the position. She has served as the President of the Supreme Court of Appeal from 2017 to 2022 and Deputy Chief Justice of South Africa, demonstrating her exceptional leadership and judicial expertise.
The ANC has expressed its confidence in Maya’s ability to uphold the integrity and independence of the judiciary, and to lead the institution with wisdom and fairness. Her appointment is a testament to the country’s commitment to transformation and the empowerment of women in leadership positions.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has nominated Maya as the next Chief Justice, and the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has recommended her appointment. The appointment is made under Section 174(3) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996.
